What is or who was Vespasian?
'Vespasian' was actually a shortened named given to Titus Flavius Vespasianus, who was a Roman Emperor and founder of the Flavian dynasty reigning between 69 - 79. Amongst his legacies are the building of the Colosseum in Rome.

The legendary Vespa PX is back on the map (like it ever left!).  Just 2 years since production ceased, and 33 years since the first Vespa PX was produced, the Vespa PX returns! (actually going on sale in April 2011).  In keeping with what PX lovers adore about the Vespa PX, little changes from the original.  Maybe surprisingly, the 2 stroke engine stays (in 125 or 150 form) with help from a new cat and electronic ignition although the old kickstart also remains as back up, a much loved feature.  Comfort is the more focal point with the revised PX gaining a new seat with new fabrics, an upgraded headlamp for improved visability.  The rear light has seen some refinements to make it classic yet elegant.  Enhancements throughout the lighting system have taken place along with the front grille, handlebar grips.  Front disc and rear drums are retained together with the handlebar mounted 4 speed manual gear change.  Despite having not laid eyes on one in the flesh just yet, the guys at Vespa seem to have consulted PX owners the world over to get this right!  So although the price is not yet known and commercially likely there will be fair old price increase from where it left off in 2008 to be more in line with current model pricing, well done Vespa!  Read more and see pics on Vespas Facebook page and place comments on our Facebook page too please! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Vespas-For-Sale/301791696463 and see more Vespas for Sale and advertise FREE at www.vespasforsale.co.uk

The time has come when you have finally had the green light to purchase a Vespa motor scooter, but when choosing a Vespa what should you look for? Well, first of all, are you looking for a new Vespa or a second hand Vespa, this is really the starting point and will determine the main differences.  New Vespas, produced after September 2008 all have 4 stroke engines and are automatic.  Prior to this date there were a wide range of autos and manual gearboxes.  Historically Vespas where 2 stroke and up until 28th Aug 2008, the Vespa PX was the last of the 2 strokes.  2 stroke = start up smoke and you have to mix 2 stroke oil with the petrol, whereas 4 stroke is much cleaner and efficient and means you simply put petrol in the tank. If you are wanting a Vespa as a commuter, travelling on it daily and therefore want complete reliability, then a 4 stroke will give more reliability. Don’t get me wrong, 2 strokes are reliable, just not as much as a 4 stroke!  Then we come to frame size, there are small frames and large frames, so subject to your height, you may want something a little on the more petite size….the new models cover small and large frame sizes with small frames up to 125cc.  Engine size…do you have a full motorcycle license or just a CBT? if you have a CBT (compulsory basic training) you can ride up to a 125cc with L plates but cannot carry pillion or ride on motorways.  The CBT is a day course and costs around £100 and must be taken every 2 years thereafter.  Take your full test and remove all the restrictions.   A 50cc is fine for round town or city use but may struggle when facing gradients an open roads where higher speeds apply, whereas 125cc will typically get you to 70+.   View a wide range of second hand Vespas or new Vespas, or even place a wanted ad on Vespas For Sale.

Well there isn’t a straight answer to that question as there as so many Vespa models that have been made and so many still in production.  With engines from 50cc to 300cc, historically engines where 2 stroke, now all engines are 4 stroke but fair to say the current 300cc models are the fastest standard production models with riders achieving speeds of in excess of 90 mph (on race tracks!).  One of the most popular Vespa models is the Vespa PX which only ceased production in the last 2 yrs.  Its 125 2 stroke engine is a little lazy delivering top speeds of upto 60 mph at a push with its big brother the PX 200 giving an extra 10 mph.  Comparatively though, the 4 stroke 125 autos can touch 75 and definately 70 with ease.  Ask around the scooter clubs though and many will speak of race prepared Vespas travelling in excess of 100 mph….hold on to your pork pies! view a great selection of used Vespas at VespasForSale.

Vespasforsale.co.uk has been established for just 2 years and is now firmly the UK’s biggest and best Vespa resource.  We are the Vespa scooter giant in the UK.  We have a wide range of second hand Vespas and new Vespa scooters for sale and users can swap Vespas and list wanted items, but we are also a central resource for the Vespa restoration enthusiast.  Vespasforsale is also very prominent in Europe with a number of Italian, Spanish and French followers who have great interest in the custom paint jobs that are so popular in UK mod culture.  What we do to Vespas in the UK is quite different to what they do in Europe.  So, if you love Vespas, no matter where you are, you will love Vespas for sale, the Vespa scooter giant for all things Vespa!

Modern Vespas can be classified primarily as 4 strokes.  The traditional 2 stroke Vespas only very recently ceased manufacture due to EC regulations on emissions.  So now the only Vespas made are 4 strokes or… the healthier option!  Already Piaggio have brought out several models, replaced and upgraded them and released some wonderful creations.  Current models include the Vespa S, Vespa GTS Super and Vespa LX with a number of models and configurations that make up these.  With powerful (and some more recently fuel injected) 50, 125, 250 and 300cc engines, they are lean and mean.  If you are looking for a scooter, but not just any scooter, it simply has to be a Vespa scooter.  Deeply iconic, the Vespa epitomises style making beautiful people look super chic. Take a look at Vespas For Sale for a wide range of new Vespas and used Vespas.

Well, it’s quite simple really, sell the gas guzzler and buy yourself a Vespa.  At anything around 80-90 mpg clearly it would make perfect sense especially for those commuting, in the city and those who don’t have to travel epic journeys each day, although, even so, this wouldn’t be a problem for a Vespa.  I run a Vespa GTS 125, I get around 85 mpg, with a top speed of around 74 mph, it certainly doesn’t hold up the traffic.  The petrol tank holds approx 9.2 litres of unleaded petrol so there is around 180 miles between stops.   Petrol taxation has just increased by 1p per litre with another increase due in January and more than likely more to follow, so, make the change now! all those trips you make to the post office, to the bank, out for lunch and shopping; you are hit with parking charges…not quite the same on a Vespa as there are lots of free places to park, even many paid for car parks have sections that are free for motorcyclists / Vespa scooters.  You won’t only save on petrol and parking charges with a Vespa; you will also save on tax which is currently just £15 per year for a 125cc and of course insurance which will also be considerably less.  All this sounds too good to be true, but that’s not all.  If you are after a means of transport that is a guaranteed head turner, you needn’t fork out on some flash German 4 wheeled brand with an over the top price tag – the Vespa will take care of you in this department too!  For the widest range of Vespa scooters for sale visit www.vespasforsale.co.uk or specifically new Vespa scooters at http://www.vespasforsale.co.uk/vespa-px-for-sale.html and used Vespa scooters at http://www.vespasforsale.co.uk/vespa-used.html

A status symbol, an object of desire or a cool means of transport….the Vespa scooter is truly iconic.  Having been with us for over 60 years, and now that the faithful 2 stroke is no more, the modern 4 stroke shows no signs of losing its appeal.  In just a few years, Piaggio have a few models and special editions under their belt and sales continue to rise.  Despite the love of the 2 stroke and many a scooterists’ deep faith, the 4 stroke is converting people; after all they are the future.  Vespas are everything we want them to be irrespective of whether they are 50 years old of decaying steel or a gleaming Vespa GTS 300 Super.  They communicate to us; they say similar things about their owners.  Ok, so the 2 stroke Vespas can bellow out a little smoke however compensates for this by returning around 80 mpg, so who’s committing the crime, the 2 stroke scooterist or the 6 litre Merc company director?  There is no doubt about it, Vespas are head turners and with the economy nowhere near stable, with VAT increasing to 20% shortly and fuel always the chancellors first target, Vespas will no doubt continue to as popular as ever as cars are increasingly exchanged in favour of the Italian wonder! take a look at our used Vespas and join the elite club!
